Visa Matters
The standard visa issued for foreigners teaching English in South Korea is an E2 Visa. If you would like to teach English in South Korea, you must:
Speak English as your first language.
Have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree.
Hold a passport from one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom , or the USA.
E1 and E2 Visas
E2 visas are teachers and allow you to work legally as a teacher at any legally registered language institute in South Korea . You can teach in an English language school (“Hagwon”), public school, or language center.
E1 visas are for professors or teachers at a comparably high status teaching at a South Korean university or educational training establishment.
These visas are renewable for an additional year after the first year. To learn more, please visit the Korean Immigration Bureau website.
When do we start to process your visa?
Once you have undergone an interview and signed a contract with your future employer, we will ask you to send the following required documents to your employer:
1. Signed contract
2. Original diploma (Don't worry: you'll get it back once the process is completed.)
3. Sealed transcripts (These must be sealed and stamped in your university's envelope.)
4. Two passport-sized color photos
5. Photocopy of your passport (the page with your photo)
6. Your resumé, signed by you
7. Criminal clearance letter
8. Self-check health statement
Your employer will forward these documents to the immigration office in South Korea, which will then process your Visa Issuance Number.
Visa Issuance Number
Once you receive your Visa Issuance Number from us, you will need to contact the South Korean Consulate near you to get your visa stamped in your passport.
Please make sure you contact the Korean Consulate near you after you send off your documents to the school. The Kroean Consulate will tell you how what papers they need from you in order to get a visa stamp on your passport. Don't worry: if you run into any trouble, we'll be here to walk you through this. :)
