Job Description: All Nations Christian Academy (ANCA), Korea (Elementary School-Adults)
Native English Speaking ESL Teachers wanted
Do you want to make your life count? Do you want to take part in a dynamic school ministry of winning Koreans to Christ and discipling them to be servant leaders?
1. About our school and ministry
Our school’s mission is to win and train young people and adults, both Christian and non-Christian, according to God’s Word in our preschool, day school, and ESL classes. Both our regular day school and ESL classes are designed to use English to win the lost and build up believers in the faith. So our ESL classes, which is called Leadership School, include Bible teaching. Because we maintain a high quality of education, ANCA was chosen in 2008 by a secular Korean newspaper as one of the two best English medium schools in Korea.
2. Qualifications
- Believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior and have a personal relationship with Him everyday
- Have a mission / discipleship mind
- 4-year Bachelor's degree in any major
- DON’T need a teacher’s certificate, but preferably classroom teaching experience.
- Must be a native speaker of English. Korean government gives English teaching visas to citizens of U.S.A, Canada, England, Ireland, S. Africa, Australia, and New Zealand only.
3. Responsibilities
- Provide classroom instruction and other services associated with instruction
- Consult with students and correct their behavior as needed
- Participate in English worship and Sunday school 10:00-12:30 (Take turns helping teach small Sunday classes)
- Work 40 hours a week & teach weekdays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
4. Salaries and Benefits
- Monthly salary Korean Won 1,500,000 (This is a mission ministry—salary may be increased based on qualifications and job performance in succeeding years)
- You may elect to occasionally escort students on summer or winter Vision Trips with pay if sponsored by parents; 10 work days paid vacation per year (when school is closed)
- 12 or more paid holidays and one meal on Sundays
- Housing (a furnished apartment - utilities not included)
- 3% Korean annuity tax is deducted from your salary (can be refunded when leaving Korea permanently)
- Health insurance (premium 50/50 split), which entitles you to the same rate for medical services and prescriptions as for Korean citizens
5. Contract Period
One year. Contract may be extended yearly upon evaluation.
6. Starting Date
August 15, 2010, and thereafter
Korea now has about 18,625 foreign missionaries--second only to USA--so the need to educate their children is growing. Many of these children have been studying overseas in English medium schools, and they want to continue their education in English so as to reach the global community for Christ. Our ESL classes Evangelize students and generate income to support our Christian English medium day school.
With a simple life style, a single person can live on $500 a month here. You can use our internet access at school or you can install the internet connection in your apartment. Our school is located in Yangpyeong next to the subway/train station. Yangpyeong has modern stores, good Western type medical, dental, and chiropractic care and is about an hour by bus or train from Seoul.
