Visa in Korea


Once you have accepted and signed a contract to teach English in South Korea , the next step is getting your visa. It is illegal to work without authorization in Korea . If you are planning on teaching English in Korea , you will need to get a multiple entry E1 or E2 Visa. E1 visa is a legal working visa for English teachers, professors working at educational institutes higher than a junior college. E2 visa is a legal working visa for conversation instructors. The process of getting a working visa will take about 4 weeks.

Below are the procedures of obtaining a visa.

Step 1: You have accepted and signed a contract from the employer in South Korea .

Step2: Prepare your necessary Visa documents

•  Signed employment contract

•  2 passport photos

•  2 sets of official sealed transcripts (public schools require 3 sets)

•  Original diploma

•  A photocopy of your passport on the photo page.

Step 3: Send your documents by courier (Fedex or DHL) to your Korean school.

Step 4: Wait for the E-2 visa confirmation letter from your Korean school.

Step 5: Documents come back

Step 6: Apply for Visa at Korean Embassy or consulate. Make sure you have the following items.

•  E-2 Visa confirmation letter.

•  Visa application

•  2 passport sized photos

•  Passport

•  Visa fee

Step 7: Get your visa stamped in your passport.
